Health Aid - Relaxation for Healing

The best way to tell you about the importance of relaxation is to show you what stress is doing to a lot of people. Consider this:

  • According to a National Health interview survey, 75% of people experience some stress at least once every two weeks. If you work, drive regularly, if you are a mom or dad; if you are in any relationship with another person, you are most likely among this group of regular stressors.

  • 54% of Americans say they are concerned about the level of stress in their everyday lives.

  • As much as 62% of Americans say that work is a major source of stress in their lives.

  • Close to 12 billion dollars is spent yearly by Americans alone to try to cope with stress. This includes money spent on counsellinng, drugs of all kinds.

  • About 90% of sickness and disease is either caused by or made worse by severe stress.

    Inexpensive Stress Control:

    • Eat well - Develope a taste for sensible foods that you also like to eat. We know good food is important to divine health, but you also have to enjoy it. You can do both.

    • Physical Activity - If you live a dormant inactive life, your body's systems will slow down much too soon and make it easier for you to be stressed and sick.

    • Relaxation - Finding a quiet time to unwind and detox your systems from all the things that made you angry, or things that did not fall in line with your values; or things that caused you to fail at something; or things that disappointed you greatly; or things you can add to this list.

    Great Inexpensive Ways to Relax:

  • A moderate amount of wine regularly (preferably red wine) to loosen the nerves. Don't use this as an excuse to get drunk. Getting drunk will not serve any good purpose.

  • Try forgiveness for all those who have wronged you greatly. This is a major source of destructive stress that many people can get rid of with a little work. It is'nt easy by any means but important and doable. You should be selfish here and do it for your health.
  • If you can afford it, travel is a great stress reducer. Just see how you feel after a good vacation away from home. Make time for travel.
  • Good relaxation can be acheived also through healing meditation.
